1. Amazon unveil’s its Alexa-controlled microwave

Amazon has revealed a microwave, controlled using its Alexa voice assistant – alongside a line of electric plugs, and clocks.

The AmazonBasics Microwave will cost you £45.99 ($59.99), which we think is pretty reasonable for a microwave, let alone a Smart Microwave.

It’s available for pre-order now in the US, with a release date for the UK yet to be confirmed.

2. The UK to consider Internet Regulator.

The UK government is considering the appointment of a regulator, as part of new legislation governing the internet.

According to Buzzfeed News, the government will release a White Paper proposing the regulatory body – similar to Ofcom.

In recent months, a cross-party committee investigating misinformation and fake news have already suggested areas for new legislation ahead of the White Paper.

3. Rolls Royce Plan Electric Alternative for UK Rail.

Famed British manufacturer Rolls Royce has signed a deal that will see them test electric-hybrid trains on UK railways.

The deal brokered with UK firm Porterbrook could see hundreds of hybrid–electric trains on Britain’s railways from 2020 onwards.

Rolls Royce is also exploring the use of electric-hybrid propulsion for ships, with concepts revealing a new type of cargo ship.

4. Tesla under investigation.

Following Elon Musk’s tweets a couple of months ago, Tesla is now under investigation by the US Justice Department.

Tesla’s value has fallen considerably since Musk’s comments – by almost a third – wiping nearly $18bn off the companies value.

5. EU warns Facebook it faces sanctions over ‘misleading’ T&Cs.

The European Commission began investigating social media companies’ compliance with EU consumer rules after complaints from French authorities following a spate of fraud cases.

Google, Facebook, Airbnb and Twitter were asked to make changes to their terms and conditions to meet EU consumer standards.

What does this mean for UK Facebook users following Brexit?

Another one to watch out for…

Until next week. We hope you have a great weekend!
