1. Government No Deal Brexit warning for UK Tech.

The UK government has published the first of its ‘No Deal Brexit’ contingency planning notices, which contained some worrying messages for the UK technology industry.

2. Uber to Taxi US soldiers to battle. 

US Soldiers could soon call an Uber to get to the front line.

Uber has partnered with NASA, and the Army Research Laboratory to develop a ‘flying taxi’ that could transport troops to war zones, more cheaply, and quietly than military helicopters.

A $1m statement of work has been signed between Uber and the Army to develop the new ‘dual rotor’ system to power the craft.

Expected to cruise at 1,000-2,000 feet, reach speeds of up 200mph and fly up to 60 miles on a single charge.

3. IBM has patented a Coffee delivery drone.

IBM has patented a coffee-delivering drone that detects when people are tired and brings them a drink.

The patent describes a drone that can identify the ‘cognitive state’ of office workers and lower cups of coffee on a string.

IBM hasn’t revealed whether it plans to produce the coffee drone, but technology firms frequently patent products with the plan to sell them in the future.

4. Kalashnikov to take on Tesla.

Russian arms maker Kalashnikov has unveiled its all-new electric car – saying the technology will rival Elon Musk’s Tesla.

The CV-1 is inspired by a rare 1970s model Soviet hatchback ‘Izh-Kombi.

Kalashnikov has diversified itself recently, expanding its brand by launching product lines, which include clothing, umbrellas and even mobile phone covers.

5. Corbyn to Tax Tech Giants.

Jeremy Corbyn has laid out plans to levy a tax on tech giants currently dominating the UK’s media.

This tax would be used to subsidise the cost of the BBC licensing and then use the kitty to fund an independent and democratic BBC.
